Obituary
Stephen Vincent Gray Stevens, 47, left this earth to be in heaven way too soon (June 10, 2021). He was born on March 6, 1974 to Frank and Katherine (Stevens, Sandstrom) Gray. He is survived by his parents, his daughter, Taylor Gray Stevens and his younger siblings, Michael Gray, Samantha (Madonna) Stevens and his step-sister, Kortnee Sandstrom.
Steve was a stone mason by trade. He was an avid baseball player and fan. Stephen enjoyed playing golf and bowling with his Dad. He also enjoyed frisbee golf with friends. He was known to many of his friends as “DJ Switchy”, one of the most amazing break beats/scratch djs to ever touch a record. His passion for music came from his soul and was infectious. It was easy to see how at home he was behind a set of turntables spinning some beats. He was known for his quick smile, silly nature, and nicknames galore. He lit up almost as much around animals as with music. One look at his social media and you can see how much he loved his dog, Lucy Lu. He treated every other animal he encountered with the same childish love and excitement.
The love of Steve’s life was his daughter, Taylor Gray Stevens. Anyone who knew Steve heard stories of her. He rarely missed her basketball games. He even volunteered to do scoreboard or any other task he could to help and cheer her on. The day she was born, he held her for the first time and said, “I didn’t know I could love her so much.” That love only grew deeper with time. He uprooted his life and moved up North to be closer to his daughter. She was his world and their time together was precious.
We love you Steve. We miss you. We know this isn’t how you wanted it to be. But we also know that you are up there watching over us all. You touched our souls and you will never leave our hearts. In that way, you will be there for it all…for every milestone Taylor will continue to have, you will be there. You will be with us all.
