Obituary
Surrounded by her family, Sue Ingold passed away at the age of 81 on January 7, 2015 in Federal Way, Washington.
She was a uniquely strong, feisty and talented woman!
She left a legacy of many lives touched and bettered by her love.
Sue was a new year’s girl, born in Columbus, Nebraska on January 1, 1934 to her parents Bernice and Everett Guy Brillhart. She attended Gulf Park College and then graduated from the University of Nebraska where she met and married Jerome Barton. After the birth of her three sons – Steven, David and Richard, she and Jerry packed up the kids in a corvair station wagon and moved to the great northwest in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
She later married her high school sweetheart Lester Ingold and lived in Federal Way, Washington where her family expanded to include Les’s children Jim, Leslie and Jennifer. Sue and Les traveled most the coastline of North America scouting aquaculture sites for Les Ingold & Associates, and then ran a custom cabinet shop called New Traditions before retiring.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents and husband Les and is survived by her six children (Steve, Dave and Rich Barton, Jim and Jennifer Ingold, and Leslie Benson), eleven grandchildren (Barton Bodrian, Brooke and Michelle Barton, Cody Benson, Savannah Gardner, Sam and Mathew Barton, Leah and Tristan Ingold, Mikaela Schmidt, Ali Foster, Jessica Sadler and Jacob Ingold), and six great grandchildren.
Sue loved to cook, garden, sew, knit and jig saw puzzle, and thoroughly enjoyed neighborhood gatherings.
In her honor a celebration of life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm, March 14 at the North Shore Golf Course in Federal Way.
Mom,
Your presence and love are greatly missed.
I don’t have words to express my sorrow, but will always remember those special moments with you
So…a poem I know you’d like us to hear:
Do not stand at my Grave and Weep
I am not there
I do not steep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glint on the snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush of quiet birds in flight,
I am the soft starlight at night
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there
I do not sleep
Mom, Maybe it’s too late, but I know you are listening from the heavens above…
I love you and miss you! I understand all the sacrifices you made in your life to give me a better one. No matter where I am or what I am doing, you will always be the shining star which gives me the strength to move on.
I am not able to find the words that describes my heartache, just rest peacefully knowing the love and guidance you shared with me will live on in my memory!
We are so sorry to hear about your mom. She was such a sweet lady and I know she will be missed greatly…
Sue, You were such presence in many lives!
You will be missed!!!!
One can find comfort in knowing that you do not have to suffer any longer.
Hopefully, your family will remember the many happy times you shared.
Sue,
Our friendship began when Irv was hired at New Traditions. You would pick me up at work and whisk me to a spot You had in mind for us to visit . Whether it was a deli North of Seattle or a fabric store to wander in.
There were many dinners at your house and evenings chatting.with Les cutting those Anchovies on a cutting board in the living room. You still did not get me to like them either in all those years.
How about that Saturday trip,we piled in your jeep with Brandy and headed out for parts unknown. We ended up north of Seattle on the Puget Sound , went through gift shops, ate, abandoned restaurants, that made Les hungry , so we ate again. I think we got home at 1 or 2 in the morning. We were still laughing.
Then we went to Seiku , out in our boat you caught a Skate, you took it home to use a cookie cutter on it so you could have scallops like they sold in the war. Did you ever have them?
. Dear wonderful friend, I.m not quite ready to let you completely go. The years of laughter and sewing until 2 A.M, finishing your unfinished projects, having a little wine and talking to the wee hours of the morning was a trip to Sues.
You were such a gracious lady full of spunk, and devilment. I loved every moment we spent together.Your charm and beauty and being able to get out of corners will be an asset in heaven. Sleep well you treasured friend. I loved you so.
Quote from you “WHAT A KICK”
Love you Sue.. Irv & Penny
