Obituary

Tami Tai, age 94, was born Nov. 17, 1914, in Seattle. She passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2009 at the Washington Care Center nursing home due to complications from a stroke. Tami graduated from Garfield High School in l932 and married Minoru Tai on Oct. 4, 1936. Both were Minidoka Internees from 1942-44. They returned to Seattle via Spokane and Pasco, Washington. She graduated from Washington Beauty College and she was an accomplished hair stylist for 15 years. In addition to being a member of Aiiku Guild, which supported Children’s Hospital throughout the years, she was also an avid Sonics, Seahawks, and Mariner’s fan. Predeceased by parents Nobuyuki and Ishi Yokoyama, and husband, Minoru Tai, she is survived by 3 younger sisters: Masie Masto, Kazie Sasaki, and Minnie Henry Itoi; sister-in-law: Mii Tai; 5 nieces; 3 nephews; 5 grandnieces; 6 grandnephews. She was a loving sister, Aunt, and friend, who was very much loved and who will be missed by all. Memorial service at Bonney-Watson on Saturday, Feb. 28th, at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Seattle Children’s Hospital or to Blaine Memorial UMC.
