Teresa Ann Boudreau
December 13, 1952 - August 5, 2024
Obituary
Teresa Ann Boudreau, age 71, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, in Seattle, Washington. Teresa leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and loving stories. She will be sincerely missed by her loving family, devoted friends, and all of the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.
Teresa was born on December 13, 1952 to Captain Karl Ora George, USAF, and Cecilia “Peggy” Marguerite (Rives) George, of Oklahoma, at the US military maternity hospital in Wiesbaden, West Germany. Karl and Peggy were stationed in Brussels while Karl served as a liaison officer to the Belgian Air Force.
In 1954 they returned to the United States and were posted to Long Beach, California. Sadly, Karl died in 1955 during a training flight. Peggy and Teresa stayed in Southern California, and in 1959, Peggy remarried to Thomas Richard Moran. Teresa grew up on the Palos Verdes Peninsula of Los Angeles, where she was a Girl Scout, acted in a production of West Side Story, and loved visiting her cousins in Oklahoma. She attended St. John Fisher Parish School, Marymount High School, and Miraleste High School, graduating in 1971.
In the fall of 1971, Teresa started at Seattle University where she met her future husband, Steven Boudreau, in her freshman year English class. They were engaged in March 1974 at the SU homecoming dance and were married six months later on September 7, 1974 at the historic Mission San Luis Rey. This coming September 7th will mark their 50th wedding anniversary.
Teresa worked as legal secretary and word processor for several Seattle law firms until the birth of her daughter, Cecilia, in 1980. Teresa became a full-time mother and homemaker and their family was soon joined by a son, Gregory, in 1982. In 1986, the Boudreau family moved to the Boston area briefly, then Orange County, California, before settling in Fallbrook in 1987. Teresa was active in the Fallbrook community by leading her daughter’s Girl Scout troop and serving as PTA president. Teresa and Steve returned to Seattle in 2012 and prepared to settle into their golden years together. There she and Steve became involved in Seafair and the Seattle Seafair Clowns.
Teresa loved doing genealogy research with the goal of tracing her children’s family lines back to the ancestor that first came to North America. She made several research trips around the U.S. and wrote several booklets that documented the history of their family. The search for the elusive Reuben Rives will have to be picked up by another.
Teresa was also passionate about the arts. She briefly attended art school in Los Angeles and was always eager to help with her children’s craft projects. She was a fan of musical theater and movie musicals, with the Sound of Music being her favorite.
In recent years, Teresa was happy to witness the marriage of her daughter Cecilia to Duncan Barry in 2019 and the birth of their son, Angus, in 2022. She generously moved out to Maryland to care for her grandson for a year, being there for his first steps, first words, and making friends at the local park. This past May, Teresa, family, and friends gathered to celebrate the marriage of her son Greg to Brittany (Schank) Boudreau.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 23 at 11am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, located at 3218 West Barrett Street, Seattle, WA 98199, with a light reception to follow. A rosary will be prayed for Teresa in the chapel of Our Lady of Fatima on Thursday, August 22 at 5pm.
Funeral arrangements have faithfully been entrusted to Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial Funeral Home, located at 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98188. For any inquiries, please contact the funeral home at (206) 242-1787.
