Teresita Nolasco Busuego
Obituary
Teresita Nolasco Busuego was born December 30, 1931, Vigan, Ilocos Sur in the Philippines. Tessie, as she is fondly known to family and friends, was proud of her Ilocano heritage. Tessie came from a large family as she was the sixth of eight children. Tessie cherished and loved her siblings and her nieces and nephews, and they loved her just as much.
In 1974, as a diplomatic representative of the Philippine Embassy, she came to Seattle with her three daughters. A year later, her husband and two sons joined the family in Seattle. At 55 years old, she retired from the Philippine Consulate and eventually worked for 18 years at the University of Washington, Medical Billing Department. She loved both jobs and felt very blessed and fortunate for having the opportunity to work for both employers.
Tessie had the weight of the world on her shoulders to take care of her family, but she believed in God with all her heart. It was her spirituality that guided and strengthened her to face all of life’s challenges. She was a dedicated mother who provided a safe and stable home to her family.
Tessie retired at 72 years old. During her retirement, she always made time for God. She rode the bus to Saint James Cathedral. She loved going to church and would make the extra effort to dress up and look nice for her trip to church. After church, she would meet with her good friends for a day outing or have lunch with them.
Tessie loved her family gatherings. She always cooked her children’s favorite dishes like pancit, dinuguan, and empanadas. During each of her children’s birthdays, she would cook pancit for good luck and long life. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crocheting.
She is very much loved and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Teresita is survived by her brother, five children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Her loving husband predeceased her on July 30, 2021.
