Theodora (Teddie) Alma Bock

February 23, 1939 - June 4, 2016

Obituary

Teddie was born on February 23rd, 1939 in Seattle, WA to Robert Northrup Tomer and Alma Nelcine Tomer. She was the 7th daughter of a 7th daughter and was 1 of 9 siblings. She attended several Schools in Washington, California and Arizona because the family moved frequently. She graduated from Bellingham High School in Bellingham, Washington in 1957.

She married Donald Bock on June 15th, 1957 and spent their honeymoon on twenty Miracle Miles of Beach on the Oregon coast. This was the start of a 59-year marriage.

Teddie was employed as a secretary at the Boeing Company for several years while Don attended The University of Washington. Later she was a cashier at two local High Schools where she was thought of as a second mom to many students.

Their first child, Gregory was born in 1963. Then Brenda was born in 1968 and Victoria in 1969. She had 6 grandchildren: Daniel, Jason, Kyle, Billy, David and Alyssa. She also had 3 Great-grandchildren: Kayden, Luccio and Parker.

She loved to cook holiday dinners for family & friends and always extended an open invitation for anyone to stop by.

Teddie enjoyed gambling on slot machines. She and Don made regular trips to Las Vegas, Reno or Laughlin. Later in life they visited local casinos. There was never a large win, but she enjoyed the small ones.

She became very involved with the Burien Emblem club #425 and was a past president.

After Don’s retirement they started “cruising”. They took several cruises including a Mediterranean cruise, 2 cruises to the Caribbean, a cruise to St. Andrews Canada out of New York, one through the Panama canal, and 2 to Alaska.

As a family we all enjoyed camping. A favorite was to go to her sister Doris’s farm on the Nooksack River for fresh picked corn, freshly caught salmon, BBQ’s, family reunions and overall fun.

To Teddie, family was very important. She and Don made sure to keep extended family close and in contact.

Teddie passed away on June 4th, 2016 in Des Moines, WA at the age of 77, after a 15-month illness. She will be deeply missed.

She was a wonderful mother and Grandmother. She taught me how to be a mother and I am thankful to have had such a great role model. Miss you!

I have so many fond memories of this family, that I do not know where to begin. I have known the Bocks for over 30 years. Teddie was like a 2nd Mom to me and she got after me when I needed it like any mom would. She always had a smile on her face and food on the stove. I will raise a glass to you Teddie and to the entire Bock family. Cheers

I will miss Teddie, she was a good friend, neighbor, PTA coworker, and bowling team member. Always fun to be with and talk to. She helped me through an illness I had several years ago, I was very grateful to her for that.
