Obituary
Theresa Kimbrough Allen (affectionally known as “T”) was born on Monday, January 20, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama. It was the third Monday of that year. Theresa’s birthdate represents justice, nurturing, and responsibility. Her proud parents were Elmo Kimbrough and Nellie Gray Hamilton-Kimbrough. She was the fifth child born to this union.
Theresa was baptized as a child at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama under the guidance of the late Reverend Doctor J.B. Weaver. She attended faithfully until her relocation to Seattle, Washington where she became a member of the Greater Mount Baker Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Doctor W.P. Johnson. “T” attended faithfully and served in a variety of capacities until her health failed.
Theresa received her education in Mobile, Alabama and graduated in 1965 from Central High School. She furthered her education through Job Corp in Astoria, Oregon and received her nursing certification.
In 1967 after completing Job Corp, Theresa relocated to Seattle, Washington where she met the love of her life Cecil Scott Allen, and they began dating. On September 14, 1968, she became Mrs. Allen. Born to this union was their only child, Tiffany Theresa Cecilia Allen. Theresa and Cecil shared dreams, joys, sorrows, trials, and triumphs. Through it all they learned to lean and depend on God and each other. They would have celebrated fifty-four years of marriage this year.
Theresa enjoyed careers within the health service field. Her final employment was as a Home Health Nurse with Visiting Nurses Services until her retirement in 2012.
“T” was a people person who loved family and friends dropping by to say hello and share a meal; there was nothing that she could not cook. She possessed compassion and sought to be of service to others.
“T” was also a praying woman and would pray with and for you.
If you were sick, she was always willing to do whatever it took to make you feel better. Each and every moment of precious memories that “T” has planted here on earth will be cherished by all that knew her. To have “T” in your life was truly a blessing. She will be greatly missed, remembered, and loved.
