Theresa Louise Gorjance
We mourn the loss of a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Theresa was a long-time, hardworking client of the Northwest Center and an accomplished Special Olympian for over 40 years. She is survived by her parents William and Patricia, her siblings William, Mary, and Vincent and their families. Sincere thanks go out to the many teachers, coach, advocates and caregivers who contributed to Theresa’s full and happy life.
The funeral mass will be at 10:00am on Monday, June 6 at St. Thomas Church, Tukwila. Memorial gifts may be made to the specialolympicswashington.org and nwcenter.org.
I have always remembered Theresa’s vibrant, vivacious, and caring nature since I was her teacher for Sacramental Preparation and chaperone for Special Olympics in 1976. I was a new teacher, and I learned far, far more from her about what is important in life and in learning, than I ever did in all my graduate classes. She is someone whose example has guided my 40 years of teaching and whose enthusiasm and concern for others has helped me remember why we are here on this earth.
Thank you, Theresa’s family, for guiding her to be such a light to others in this life. My prayers and sorrow for you in your loss.
