Therese Marie McDougall

Obituary

Therese (Teddi) Marie McDougall, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, July 12th. Teddi was

born in Duluth, MN on September 26, 1946 to her parents, Vern and Nora Myre.

She graduated from Denfeld High School in 1964. After graduation she traveled to Washington

state to be with her sister who had recently moved there. While she was in Washington, she

met Garrett (Garry) McDougall who was working at the local drive-in. After dating for two years

they were married on June 3, 1967. Garry enlisted in the U.S. Army and the young couple was

stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1969 they returned to Washington and

started their family. In total, Garry and Teddi celebrated 56 years together.

Two daughters were born to Garry and Teddi, Kim and Heidi. A devoted mother, Teddi stayed

home with her girls when they were little. Once they started school, Teddi began working as a

“Lunch Lady” within the Highline School District at Evergreen High School. Teddi loved her

work, brightening the day of her co-workers, as well as the students, through her cheerful

banter. Teddi stayed on at Evergreen for 25 years. When she wasn’t working, Teddi enjoyed

collecting, celebrating birthdays and holidays, camping trips, supporting her daughters in their

activities, and later supporting her grandchildren by going to their concerts, games, and recitals.

Later in life, Teddi enjoyed trips to the casino, shopping, and visiting family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patricia McKenna (Myre). She leaves

behind her husband, Garry, daughters, Kim Neigel and Heidi Griffee, son-in-laws, Rick Neigel

and Patrick Griffee, seven grandchildren: Alex, Madeline, Lucas, Hannah, Hazel, Henry, and

Hope, her siblings, Sharon, Mike (Butch), Mary, Eddie, numerous nieces and nephews, and

many other close family and friends. Teddi was a mother or grandmother figure to many who

may not have been family, but were welcomed into the larger family of those she surrounded

herself with. We will all miss her kindness, devotion and loving ways.

Funeral services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, July 27th at 10:15 a.m.

A Celebration of Life Picnic will follow at Lake Wilderness Park, 22500 SE 248th St., Maple Valley, Shelter

Hi Teddi, you are one of the most caring and warm person that I know from Meals on Wheels. You always had time for all of us and now you’ll have time for yourself with no pain and a lot of love.

Love Heidi (a friend from Meals on Wheels going on 20 years.)
