Timothy Scott MURRAY

March 26, 1964 - December 6, 2024

Obituary

In the words of the poet: “Parting is such sweet sorrow”, and on Friday, December 6, our son, Brother and Friend, Timothy Scott Murray, was called to his eternal home.  Tim was born March 26, 1964, the third of four and only boy borne to Jim and Carol Murray.

Tim spent the majority of his 60 years in the Renton-Seattle area where he worked in the restaurant business.  In his youth, he attended St. Anthony’s in Renton, graduating from Lindbergh High School in 1983 where he was an excellent student and had a special fondness for the Arts. Music played a big part in Tim’s life, from singing to plunking out a melody on the piano.  He enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes; but his pride was the homemade cheesecake.

Tim loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing, the family shares many fond memories traveling to British Columbia, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and eventually making all the way to Disneyland in California.  Tim’s highlight of the year was always the family trips during Christmas to Hawaii where Tim developed a love for the Hawaiian life-style. He loved to swim and hangout at the beach.

Following graduation from high school, Tim was accepted into the Hotel, Restaurant Management course at WSU in Pullman, his first venture on his own.  Tim received his BA degree as a Coug!

Somewhere along the way, Tim chose a life of service to others.  He always had a kind and loving heart and took immense satisfaction in helping others. Upon graduation, Tim went to work at the Westin, Hilton and Washington Athletic Club in Seattle.  Tim worked with integrity and pride in his field.

Left to mourn beside his parents are 3 sisters.  Cindy Mechelsen (John) of Sammamish; Julie Van Acker (Bob) of Peoria, AZ; and Pamela Smith (Brian) of Renton; nieces, nephews and many other relatives & friends.

A Celebration of Tim’s life will be held in 2025; date time and location TBA

For those of us left behind, we can take solace in these lines of a favorite poem:

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I’m not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me,

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too.

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I’d have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

So, when tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we’re far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right here, in your heart

Thank you, Timothy Scott Murray for teaching us some of life’s most valuable lessons, please know that you are loved and missed beyond words.

My beautiful brother I miss you every day and I know you are in heaven playing with the angels because you are an angel yourself.

Tim I will miss all the times we went junk shopping and had a good time enjoying ourselves and picking out a lot of neat things and I’m going to miss our lunches together and The Great Onion soup that used to bring me all the time and all the treats. I’ll never forget all the nice things you’ve done for me and the good times that we had together! Love always kandis and Fred 😘
