A Life Well Lived
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Timothy Weatherly was born July 31, 1922 in Cartelyou, Alabama to Ms. Azalean Portis Davis.
Though you would never know it, Timothy received a limited education, only completing the 2nd grade.
As a young boy, Timothy moved to Mobile, Alabama. It was there, with his cousin Howard Robinson that he was introduced to and developed a love for gospel quartet singing. Timothy was also introduced to Jesus and became a member of the Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1942, Timothy was summoned by the United States Army. Many days he would delight his children with stories of his travels to distant lands.
It was in Mobile that a friend invited him to tag along on a date with a young lady named Ora Lee Christmas. At the end of the evening, his friend was out of the picture. Timothy and Ora Lee were married January 29, 1943.
In 1946, Timothy and Ora Lee came to Seattle, WA. Here he found a better life. He also found people who, like him, had a love for Gospel singing and he found a place among them. Not forgetting that he needed a shelter for his soul, he became a member of the Goodwill MBC under the late Rev. Norman Mitchell.
A dynamic baritone singer, he sang with The Goodwill Gospel Singers, The Friendly Five, The Friendly Brothers and lastly the Electrifying Mighty Warriors. He also promoted and helped to bring National talent to the Washington-Oregon Area.
Timothy loved people; he loved to talk and would talk to anyone. So it wasn’t surprising when he became a radio disc jockey.
In the 1960’s, Timothy left the employment of the shipyards and began working with the newly formed Central Area Motivation Program CAMP as a community activist. This was the perfect job for him. He had a God given talent to relate to people regardless of their color or position in life. Later, he accepted a position with Job Corps as a counselor in Astoria, Oregon. Returning to Seattle, he began working with and retired from the Central Seattle Community Council. Timothy was a forceful voice in the resolution of urban issues. He worked diligently for the equality of all people. His work brought him numerous awards, accolades and commendations from the regular man in the streets to those in city & state government. One highlight in his life was receiving an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Sociology from the University Of Washington!
Even in retirement, Timothy was busy. He continued singing with The Electrifying Mighty Warriors, enjoying traveling the road spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Anyone spending time around Timothy knew he loved his family. He and Ora Lee were married more than 60 years when the Lord called her home in 2003. His children and his grandchildren were his delight. It wasn’t uncommon for other young people to call him Pop or cool old dude.
As age began to take its toil, Timothy’s health declined, preventing him from enjoying activities as he once had.
For years, Timothy sang and lived While I’m On This Christian Journey, But on Monday, November 27, his song changed to I’m Going To Walk Through The Streets Of The City.
While we sorrow his in passing, we also rejoice for he truly had a life well lived.
He leaves to proudly cherish the wealth of his rich legacy: two daughters: Evangelist O. Diane Johnson of Los Angeles, CA; Mrs. Denise Davis; one son: Timothy Maurice Weatherly; one son in law: Mr. Willie Harden two grandchildren: Deshawn Weatherly & Diamond Davis; three sisters in law: Mrs. Alice Wilson, Mrs. Charlie Mae Brown & Mrs. Lettie Brown, all of Seattle; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and associates.
Daddy you will forever be in my heart!!!

It’s been a year and a month since you left. I know you’re in a better place and you and Mom are together as it should be. As I sit here listening to the gospel music you and Mom made an important part of our lives, I find myself missing you and Mom each and every day. What you two have left, we three are trying to push forward. I love you both.
Daddy, it’s been one year today since you left me. There hasn’t been one day that I’ve haven’t thought of you and Mama. I miss you both so much. Sometimes I feel like I’m alone, but I know that you are both looking over all of us. I love you!
Happy Birthday Daddy!

Hi Daddy, I’m really missing you & Mom. Wish you both were here. Love you!
Happy 90th Birthday, Daddy. I am really missing you. There is so much I would love to share with you. You have a great grandson that you would get the biggest kick out of. It would be like a mini Shawn all over again getting spoiled rotten, just like you spoiled Diamond and Shawn. Thank you for being the best father a girl could ask for. I was truly blessed to have you in my life. It is a shame that more men couldn’t be like you. The world is missing out on a wonderful man. I love you!!!!
A father. A friend. A gentleman. A mentor. But most important, a DAD. Today, I wish you a happy 90th birthday. I also wish you were here but God felt you needed your rest. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you and Mom. And you’ll be happy to know that all those little quotes and sayings you passed down to me, I’m using them everyday. “Common sense is the best sense”. I love you always, I miss you always and I’m working to be a son you can be proud of. Again, HAPPY 90TH BIRTHDAY!!!
Another year and still the same feeling of loss. It’s been six years and I miss you just as much now as I did then. But I know you’re with Mom and that makes me happy. Always love you and miss you Dad.
Hi Daddy, Just wanted to tell you Happy 70th Wedding Anniversary. I am really missing you and mom. I love you now and forever.
Just need to take time to wish you a happy 91st birthday. I wish you here so we could celebrate together, but God needed you home to keep Mom company. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!! Love you.
7 years. It still seems like you just left. I know you’re in a better place and for that I rejoice. I will always miss you no matter how much time goes by because I still need my Dad. Loving you always.
Miss you Daddy. So so much!
