Obituary
Trudy Wittmann (née Fietzek), of Tacoma, WA died peacefully on January 6, 2016. She was 69 years old.
Trudy is survived by her husband Eugene of Tacoma as well as her son and daughter in law Jeremy and Lisa Wittmann of Round Lake Beach, IL. Additionally she is survived by her brother Dale Fietzek of South Bend, IN and Karen Linn of Aledo, TX. as well as a niece and a number of nephews.
Trudy was born February, 6th, 1946 to Leonard and Sylvia Fietzek in Chicago Illinois. The family moved to South Bend Indiana where Trudy spent most of her youth.
Trudy moved back to Chicago as an adult where she met Eugene while working for Northwest Airlines. There they discovered their love of travel and for each other, they married on November 2nd, 1968. Trudy and Eugene traveled to many parts of the globe during their early years of marriage and continued that travel once Jeremy was introduced to the family in December of 1970.
When an opportunity arose to be her own boss, Trudy took the opportunity to display her entrepreneurial spirit opened and operated a child daycare center called The Children’s Manor.
Years later when she moved to the Seattle area, Trudy reignited her love of travel and entered back into the travel industry where she became a manager of a travel agency for the rest of her work career. She managed an office that primarily did travel for corporate clients. However, Trudy still lent a hand for family and friends to plan their vacations.
In addition to her love of travel, Trudy had a passion for helping others. She was introduced to the world of woman’s clubs while she still was in Illinois. She became a prominent member of the Winfield Junior Woman’s Club and parlayed that into becoming a prominent member of the GWFC SOKICO Woman’s club in the Seattle area where she took on leadership positions. Nothing made Trudy happier than to help those less fortunate. Trudy chaired multiple fundraising campaigns to help women and children including backpack and sock drives.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January, 13, 2016 at Bonney-Watson Funeral Home, 1535 SW Dash Point Rd, Federal Way from 10:00 am to 1:00pm immediately followed by a service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Trudy’s life. A social celebration of Trudy’s life will be scheduled sometime in the future. Trudy was so special…she will be missed.

Trudy always had a smile, she will be deeply missed.
I had the pleasure of seeing Trudy her in her element, within the women’s club. She was a strong force behind many projects that we worked on. She was still thinking of ways to help! Her smile, laughter and compassionate spirit will be so missed.
Trudy was an inspiration to all of us. I loved her dearly.
Trudy was one of my dearest friends. We had so much fun together. She was always thinking of how our club could help others. She had a loving and gracious heart. I will miss her.

Trudy, I will miss you more than you will know. We have been friends for a number of years. You are the one who got me into GFWC-WS. We had some fun times over the years – ceramics at Esther’s, traveling for club events, and the dinner parties. Oh what fun we had. I will truly miss you being there when I call. You are a special lady and I will miss your wonderful smile. Love you, babe.
Trudy was a special friend, and will be missed. She was great support to all of us in GFWC Sokico.
Trudy was a wonderful friend. I will miss our 4 hour “lunch with the girls”. We didn’t have them nearly often enough. We always found way too much to talk about. Usually travel.
I knew Trudy from our mutual association with GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs or Girl Friends Who Care) She always had a ready smile when I met her at conventions and board meetings. She will be greatly missed.

Trudy passed but heaven is so lucky to get such a great woman. We only have wonderful memories of such a warm loving woman who was gracious kind, caring and smart. Thank you for all the memories and we consider knowing you a privilege in life.
More than 50 years have passed since we became friends. Our marathon phone calls are second to none. I will miss the laughter, your special insight, and so much more.
You are in a better place now. The real loss is for those you left behind. No one was a better friend to so many people.
