Vern Meryhew, age 89, passed away on October 23, 2022 in Burien, Washington. Vern was born May 28, 1933 in Agra, Kansas to Nivas Meryhew and Ethel (Burton). He graduated from Kennewick High
School, WA in 1951 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.
Vern married Sharie Wallen on July 12, 1957 and had two children; Brad and Pamela (Hudgins). Sharie passed away in 1969. On September 26, 1970 he married Joan McIntire who had two children; Michelle (Nicholas) and Kathy (Fincher). In 1971 Sheryl (Michels) was born and in 1980 Sarah was born, completing the family. Vern retired from Boeing in 1990 and spent his retirement years woodworking, gardening, playing golf and enjoying his family.
Vern raised his family in Tukwila, Washington, where he was active with the Tukwila School District and Tukwila City Government. He served for several years on the Tukwila Planning Commission and on the Civil Service Commission. Vern was preceded in death by Joan on September 5, 2022 and is survived by his six children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, siblings, nieces/nephews and many friends and loved ones.
Services for Vern will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Bonney Watson Memorial Park, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA. 9:30am Reception, 10:30am Service, Graveside to follow.
