Obituary
Veryl G. Gibson, longtime Portland, OR resident, passed away October 20, 2014, at age 88 in an AFH in Redondo, WA due to Alzheimer. Born on April 27, 1926 in Goldendale, WA, she moved to Portland when she was 18 years old. She is preceded in death by Gale Gibson who died in 1991.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Petersen, sister-in-law, Marj Kilpatrick, daughters, Patricia Nan Gibson, Marla Gibson and Janell Youngbluth; grandchildren Becky Salkin, Michelle Luders, Jon Youngbluth and Carissa Youngbluth; great-grandchildren Brooklyn Salkin and Jake Salkin; three nephews, one niece, and their children.
Veryl was a successful Avon representative and in the President’s Club for over 40 years. She volunteered at Providence Hospital and Albertina Kerr where she worked in the gift shop and modeled. She loved square dancing, gardening and traveling the world. Veryl was a devoted homemaker who loved caring for her family. We all greatly appreciated her sewing and knitting our clothes, as well as canning our favorite fruits and other items, and one of our favorites – selecting items from the Avon catalog. She took pride in all of this. We will all miss her.
