Our dear mother Virginia “Ginny” Amante sadly passed away surrounded by her family on September 28, 2023, at the age of 72.
She was born to the late Virgilio Amigable Sr. and Cecilia Amigable, on September 9, 1951, in Cebu, Philippines. Ginny graduated from Cebu Institute of Technology in 1968 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Financial Management from the University of the Visayas in 1971.
She married Armando Amante on April 2, 1977, and lived together in Cebu for 26 years before relocating to the United States in 2003. Ginny is survived by her husband Armando and her 4 children and spouses: Cherryl (Ryan) Amante, Noemi (Toni) Ho, Odette (Elmar) Valmores and Fatima (Thim) Backstrom. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren.
She was an accomplished career woman. She wore multiple hats professionally and excelled in each endeavor. Despite her drive to succeed career-wise, her role as a mother was her top priority. She raised her children with dedication and selflessness, giving everything she got to her children. Her love for music and singing was palpable, which is inherited by her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered as our songbird.
