Obituary

Virginia Hardiman passed away peacefully on April 17, 2013. Born and raised in Tacoma, she graduated valedictorian from Aquinas Academy, earned a degree in Social Work from Seattle University, and later a Masters degree from UW. She met her husband of 61 years, Michael—who died in June 2011—at Seattle U. They settled first on Queen Anne Hill and moved to Magnolia in 1968. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann (Gary), Ginni (Bill), and Michael (Gail); grandchildren, Kristen (Jason), Sean (Jen), Ryan (Abby), Alexandra (Brian), Anne, and Jack; and great-grandchild, Mia. Virginia loved her family and will be remembered for her delightful and quick sense of humor, strong faith, and unconditionally enthusiastic support. She will be dearly missed and always remembered. Rosary will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 7pm at BONNEY-WATSON Capitol Hill, 1732 Broadway, Seattle. She was a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 11am, 3218 W. Barrett St, Seattle. So sorry ro hear about Viginia’s passing. She was a wonderful woman, and I felt like she was my second Mom growing up. The picture you chose accurately portrays her glowing spirit, and the constant smile on her face.

Virginia and I woked together in several schools in the Shoreline District. Shye is among the top handful of people to have a significant impact on my life. Her support, wise consul and positive impact on everyone was constantly outstanding. Virginia had a way of looking at the little things thata make up the big picture. And she could look beyond the obvious to the little things that helped in finding workable solutions to the challenges of human nature. Thank you too, Virginia for encouraging me to buy the ring I have worn for 33 years. It will now have another special meaning, a reminder of you my friend. I’ll see you later. Trav

Dear Hardiman Family,

I just read yesterday’s paper and discovered Deelie’s obituary. I was out of town and hadn’t heard about her passing before (nor had my family) or we would have contacted you. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be at the funeral to honor her passing.

My very best to all of you. Deelie was a darling and wonderful woman. She was much loved by our family and, of course, our mother Betsy loved her.

Our hearts are with you.

love,

Eugenia

Your Mom was one of the great ladies. Now they are all “up there” no doubt regaling in the stories of their youth! My love to all of you in your loss. Suzie Merrick Piper
