Virginia J. Nunner passed away at Wesley Homes Health Center in Des Moines on April 21, 2018 at the age of 99 ½. She is survived by her three children, Eugenie (Gigi) Jack (David), Dale Nunner (Lorry) and Alan Nunner and her two grand-daughters, Alison Bozic (James) and Rachel Nunner, who brought much joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Nunner.
She was born on a farm near Boyd, Montana to Lithuanian immigrant parents and started 1st grade in a country school not knowing a word of English since her parents spoke only Lithuanian at home. Reading became Virginia’s hobby with a penchant for vocabulary and grammar. After two years of business college in Billings, she accepted a job in Washington DC as a court reporter for the Civil Service Commission using her shorthand and typing skills. She moved west to work for Pan American World Airways at Boeing Field in Seattle where she met her future husband, Robert, an assistant radio engineer at the time. They were married December 18, 1948.
Virginia was an elementary school secretary in the Federal Way School District and Robert was an electronics engineer at Boeing raising three kids and working on a long-term project of living in and remodeling an old house on Woodmont Beach. Boating was always their summer pastime with trips around Puget Sound, to the San Juan Islands and camping on their property on Henry Island. Their trip of a lifetime was a four-month cruise to Alaska on their 34-foot fiberglass twin-engine cabin cruiser in 1982.
Virginia was always busy with sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafting projects as well as playing Scrabble with friends and working crossword puzzles and encouraging others to join in. After Robert’s death in 1986, she stayed active in the Huntington Park Community by helping neighbors, typing the monthly Huntington Park News, taking part in church activities at Marcus Whitman Presbyterian Church and tutoring at Highline Community College.
A memorial service will be held May 19th, 2018 at 1:00pm at Wesley Homes – The Terrace, 816 South 216th Street, Des Moines, WA, in the Community Center Room at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 19, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that remembrances be made to Wesley Homes where Virginia lived for almost the last 20 years of her life.
I was here housekeeper when she moved into WesleyHomes for many years and then move on to another job at Wesley but keeping visting Virginia right up to the time she passed away at the Health Center. She was one Wonderful –caring –Loving and beautiful Lady . She was so Loved by every one at Wesley. I want to Thanks the family for letting me be part of her life for so many years Rita
Virginia was my first secretary at Lake Grove when I began to teach in the FW School District. She was so kind & helpful to a newbie teacher. We loved having staff parties at their home in Woodmont. I have very fond memories of our time working together.
I have many cherished memories of my dear friend who will be forever missed.

Soon God’s promise, as recorded at Revelation 21:4 will come true. It says: “And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore…..”
Since there will be no more mourning, that means our loved ones will come back to life as it is says at Acts 24:15!
