Obituary
Vivian M. Cockle
3 Dec. 1920 to 31 Dec. 2007
Mom was born a true Dollarhide in Dayton, Washington and graduated to be with her Lord on 31 December 2007, while residing in Renton, Washington. She was raised with her sister Ellen and brother Albert in Port Angeles by her Grandmother Adie and grew into a beautiful young woman. Shortly before meeting and marrying Frank, she had moved to Seattle. They met at a roller rink where it is said that she “tripped him while skating and he fell for her big time”. They were married in August 1942 after and short courtship and made their home in Seattle for 65 years.
Mom had two sons, Leslie and Johnny. She enjoyed her family and loved to go camping and especially enjoyed the ocean beaches. She spent many years working in the Seattle Public School’s food service and retired as a Manager at Washington Junior High School. Mom was a long time member of the Independent Order of Foresters and greatly enjoyed square dancing and round dancing with Dad for 30 years. She had a talent for painting, embroidering, sewing, crocheting and other arts and crafts. In the retirement years, she and Dad spent many wonderful days at their cabin in Sky Meadows near Cle Elum.
Mom is survived by her husband Frank, two sons Leslie and Johnny and sister Ellen Goos. She also had four grandchildren and five great grandchildren with one more on the way. Her wit and easy smile will be missed greatly but Heaven is shining brighter today with her light.
At her request there will not be a formal memorial service. However, we will have a memorial social at The Lodge at Eagle Ridge, 1600 So. Eagle Ridge Dr., Renton in the Fireside Room on 19 January starting at 2:00 PM. It is requested that memorials be made to the local American Red Cross in her name.
Johnny & Georgia,
What a glorious day you have to look forward to meeting your mom once again to be with her and your precious Lord for eternity! Every tear will be wiped away and there will be great rejoicing! Until then, we pray that you will continually be undergirded and strengthened by the Master’s loving hand and strong right arm.
Remembering Vivian’s wonderful sense of humor and fun. She always had a mischieveous twinkle in her eye. She will be missed. Hugs to all.
Johnny and Georgia,
Praying for you during this time and knowing comfort is on its way daily.
