My memory of Vivian would be that she was one hell of a classy, eloquent, witty, funny, compassionate and beautiful woman who was so very loved by her family. I am pleased that she is now free of suffering and know that one day a reunion will occur to bring everyone together again. God Bless Vivian and her family.

I was truly fortunate to have Vivian as my best friend and buddy for many years.

We shared so much, I carry the memories with me and cherish our time together.

To her family, who loved and supported her, she was proud of you and dearly loved you. I wish you peace and comfort.

To Vivian, a day doesn’t go by that I don’t think of you and miss you. Be at peace my friend.

Vivian was “Mrs. Burklund” to me during my childhood years. Even as a young girl, I could confide in her and she would listen to me. As I grew older, I made the awkward at first transition and, with her permission, began to call her Vivian. We became friends. What I loved about Vivian was that she always saw the humor in different situations even if the laugh was on her. She had a sense of humility that is rare these days. I remember spending her 60th birthday with her at Anthonys. She looked absolutely beautiful, real classy. The only problem is I don’t think she believed me when I told her how great she looked. At 60 plus, she could wear shorts and with that figure and those legs, she still looked like a model! I will miss Vivian very much. Driving through Des Moines will never be the same.

Thank you for so many wonderful memories. The boating, fishing, the good times we had with our kids. And most of all thank you for three wonderful daughters. May you rest in peace.

I grew up next door to the Burklunds and our families spent much time together. As a kid I just thought Vivian was a very nice lady. If I was having trouble at home I always knew she would be available to talk about things. Fortunatley, I happened to spend an entire afternoon with Vivian a little less than a year ago. I knew she was ill but I could not believe how nice she looked. We had a couple of drinks and talked over many things from the past and the present. We laughed a lot and I left feeling so much warmth from her. Now I just realize I won’t be able to visit with her again and it fills me with sadness. But I am deeply grateful that I happened to decide to visit her that day so that I will always remember her the way I do now – a woman who, despite being in poor health, had so much warmth and humor to share. I know Susan, Carol and Patty and their families will miss Vivian dearly and offer my sincerest condolences.
