December 18, 1992 - May 10, 2021

Obituary

Waylon Anthony Sisson was born December 18, 1992 in Kansas City, Kansas where he resided until the age of 7.  He relocated to Alabama where he lived with his aunt/second momma, Mamie Horace.  He later joined his mother, Vornice Bassett, in Bellevue, Washington in 2002.  He attended Ardmore Elementary School.  Thereafter, he attended Highland Middle School and Interlake High School, graduating in 2011.

As a child, Waylon loved to play kickball, rugby and computer games.  Waylon loved to shop!  In high school, Waylon assisted the football team manager taking care of the players both in the locker room and on the field.  He also attended the Bellevue Family YMCA where he was a team leader.  He assisted other young members at the YMCA while on field trips and camping trips.

Waylon joined Freedom Church of Seattle under the leadership of Rev. Zachary K. Bruce, Sr., in 2002 and he was baptized October 20, 2002.  He was active in the Youth Group.  Waylon was also involved in the Youth Choir.   Waylon participated in many of the youth activities including trips to Ocean Shores.  Waylon continued being active when he united with Peoples Institutional Baptist Church under the late Rev. Amos Landry, Jr., and current pastor, Rev. George Davenport, Jr.

Waylon attended Bellevue College for a short period of time.  He also attended the Culinary Institute of Seattle where he learned his skills as a chef and cultivated his love for cooking.  This led to numerous jobs in the restaurant industry throughout Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond.  He continued utilizing his skills as a chef until he became ill.

Waylon was a fun-loving young man who loved his family and friends.  He was always willing to lend a hand and help where needed.  He will be greatly missed.

He leaves to mourn, his mother, Vornice Bassett, of Bellevue, WA; father, Wilburt O. Sisson of Grandview, MO; sister Deedra L. Bassett, of Kansas City, KS (Daylon and LeKya); brother, John (J.T.) W. Bassett, III, of Atlanta, GA (Samaira, John IV and LeSae) and uncles George, Andrew and Eugene Sneed of Columbus, GA and aunts Mamie, Mariah of Alabama and Ethel (Carrington) Williams of Savannah, GA and a host of relatives, friends and church family.
