Wendell Antonius Etzkorn

Wendell Antonius Etzkorn passed away January 4, 2010. Born June 10, 1925 in Wenatchee, he lived with his parents Rosa and August and 5 younger siblings on the family orchard in Cashmere until joining the Navy at age 18. He served during WWII as part of the Armed Guard on the military’s merchant ships and was awarded 4 medals. He married Dorothy Downing in 1947. They lived in Burien, raised 3 children and celebrated 41 years together until her death in 1989. During that time Wendell owned and operated Central Carpet Company and built his dream home on Pine Lake. He married Betty Archerd in 1990 and enjoyed his retirement years with her, traveling and spending restful time ‘at the lake’. They moved back to Burien 6 years ago to be closer to his family.

Wendell is survived by his wife Betty, children Dean and Madeline Etzkorn, Michael and Ranae Etzkorn, Patti and John Wells, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sisters Elizabeth Etzkorn, Emmy and John Sator, and Rosemary and Don Conner and a brother Bob and Gail Etzkorn. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy, his brother Oscar and his grandson Justin.

Visitation Friday, January 8th, 2:00 – 8:00pm with the Rosary at 7:00pm at Bonney-Watson Washington Memorial, 16445 International Blvd, SeaTac, WA 98188 206 242-1787. Funeral Mass Saturday, January 9th at 11:00am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1028 SW 128th St. Seattle, WA 98146. Remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Association.

I am so sorry and very sad. I remembered Wendell very well, he was so kind and has got such a good heart. I don´t kwow how do you say in english, with my heart I feel with you.

We will miss you but will always have all of our great memories. Most fond are fried chicken on the dock at Pine Lake and swimming no matter the weather on the 4th. Love Dale, Colleen, Zach and Alexis.
