Born in Tacoma, WA December 4, 1934. He went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2015. He passed away at home in Federal Way.
Bill was born in Tacoma at St Joseph Hospital to Edward Hansen and Ethel Culver. He graduated from Puyallup High School in 1952 where he was involved in the stage crew and was a Viking Knight. He attended Pacific Lutheran University for 2 years. He was in the Army Reserves for 8 years and was Honorable Discharged in 1966. Bill was best remembered as “ The Frito-Lay Man”. Often seen with a box of chips and his corn cob pipe.
He was active in church from an early age. He and his wife Eli were very involved with the youth at Lutheran Church of Christ The King in Midland, WA and spent many years as Luther League Advisors. Bill also taught Confirmation classes at Messiah Lutheran Church in Auburn for many years. Bill loved the Lord and wanted to share that love with everyone he met. He enjoyed working outdoors gardening and building and “fixing” things. He also loved to talk and always had a story to tell.
Bill was married to Eleanor “Eli” M Hansen from November 19, 1953 until her death March 2, 1991. He remarried later to Norma Jean Hansen on November 8, 1992. He is survived by his wife, Norma, son Chris Hansen & wife Mary, daughters Kim Hansen and Cindy Plewka and stepchildren Steven Sabalaske, Gail Jenkins & husband Dick, Joann Powell & husband Cliff, Tom Sabalaske & wife Shery, Jami Muse, Scott Stranger & wife Stacy, and Greg Stranger & wife Angela. His sisters Margerie Watson and Carla Miller & husband Tim, and brothers Hillery Hansen & wife Sandy and Robert Hansen. His grandchildren – Cary, Paul, Vicki, Tanner, Jenny, Tawnya, Eric, Sarah, Jessica, Justin, Chad, Tiffany, Keila, Matthew, Melissa, Spencer, Mackenzie, Maggie May, Cameron, Destany, Nicholas and Nathan. And 11 great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
Pre deceased: Wife – Eleanor, daughter Cary, siblings Edward, Beatrice and Steve.

I was one of Mr. Hansen’s Luther Leagers in the early 1960 and remember him and his wife Eli fondly. Will see you another day when I come home to God. I will have his obituary posted at “Christ The King” Lutheran where I am

My memories of Bill are mainly of our childhood when Bill and the Hansen family lived in Tacoma and my family lived in Milton. Our families would visit occasionally and I have many good memories of that time in our lives. Later in life, I found out that Bill and Norma lived very close to my wife and I in the Lake Geneva area, and we would see each other occasionally. We talked about getting together more often, but it seems like neither of us ever got around to scheduling something. I really wish we would have spent more time together as I always felt that Bill was a first-class guy. My condolences and prayers to Norma Jean and the rest of Bill’s family. Cousin Don Shoop

I have known Bill since we in grade school and know him to be very dedicated to the Lord. His parents ans mine would take turns driving us to church functions He will be missed..
Our Brother Bill was very gracious and kind. After the death of his mother Ethel his Dad- Ed married Minnie (Austin) Hansen. Bill accepted Minnie as Mom. As siblings arrived and Grandpa Magnus Hansen joined the family Bill loved us all. Our son Marin had the opportunity to work with his Uncle Bill at Frito Lay. It was a happy time for both of them.
