William “Bill” Frederick (Cogo) Martin

Bill unexpectedly passed away on July 14th, 2013 at the age of 71 from complications of esophageal cancer. Bill was born to William Edward and Edith Evelyn (Chapman) Cogo on September 22, 1941, in Ketchikan, Alaska. Spending most of his early childhood in Spokane, Bill later moved to the Seattle area where he was adopted by Warren Martin. He enlisted in the US Army from 1961 to 1964, where he met and married his first wife, Joanna Buck.

In 1976, Bill married his second wife, Kathleen (Johnson), and resided in Tacoma for 25 years. During this time, his career was spent with the Boeing Company in computer design.

After retirement, Bill met and married Yolanda (Gacho) in 2003. They lived in Cebu Island, Phillippines for 7 years, before moving back to Phoenix, Arizona in 2011.

Bill especially loved playing golf, coaching Little League baseball and basketball, reading novels, woodworking and travelling. He will be remembered as a warm, kind and gentle man who loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Yolanda, sister Sandra Youngblood, son Aaron Martin, daughters Deborah Stewart, Patricia Deyerle, and Kelly Martin Fratangelo, and nine grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 20th at 1pm at Bonney-Watson Federal Way Funeral Home, 1535 SW Dash Point Road, Federal Way, WA 98023.
