Obituary
Bill Benzer, Sr., age 88, died peacefully Friday, August 29, 2008 in Seattle, WA. Bill grew up and spent most of his life on Long Island, NY. He graduated from Belmore High School. Following high school, Bill served in the Coast Guard. He worked as a systems manager for Metropolitan Life where he retired in 1982. Bill married Liv Paulsen in 1946 and they spent almost 62 happy years together. Upon retiring, Bill and Liv moved to Florida, where they spent their time sailing in the Gulf of Mexico and cruising in the Caribbean. They moved to Seattle in 2006 to be close to family.
Bill is survived by his son, Bill, Jr., and his wife, Liv Paulsen Benzer.
There will be no services for Bill. As a long-time member of the Power Squadron boating club in Sarasota, FL, Bill’s ashes will be scattered into Sarasota Bay later this year.
