William Eugene Caler

August 19, 1929 - January 28, 2017

Obituary

We have lost a man who was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.

William Eugene Caler, known to most as Bill, died January 28, 2017 unexpectedly due to complications from falling at his home in Burien, WA. Thank you to emergency medical personnel and those at Highline Hospital who cared for him.

Bill was born August 19, 1929 in Sharon, PA to Wayne and Eula Caler and he grew up in New Wilmington, PA. He and his family always attended Presbyterian Churches, active and faithful participating members in each of their home towns. He loved God and his Savior.

Bill served our country stationed in England as part of the Air Force using his photography skills. After serving, he returned to New Wilmington to marry his high school sweetheart, Alice Felicia Frew. Bill and Alice had two children, Cindy (Leffel) and William Ernest Caler also known as Bill (1955-2005).

Bill’s engineering skills moved the family to Canoga Park, CA in 1956 where Bill worked at Rocketdyne in the space program until 1971.

Bill managed the Montgomery Wards Catalogue Store in Yreka, Ca from 1971-1973.

In 1973, Bill and Alice moved to Seattle, WA where Bill worked at Boeing until his retirement in 1988.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Eula Caler, and his son William Ernest Caler.

Bill is survived by his wife Alice F Caler; his daughter Cindy and her husband Jim Leffel of Birch Bay, WA; grandson Jeremy Leffel, wife Deena, and their children Talia, Martin, and Josee; granddaughter Kelly and her husband Aaron Tuski and their children Ian and Ana; grandson Randall Caler and his loving mom, Janet Caler.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor our country’s Veterans, spend time with your family, and express words of love and gestures of affection daily. The best parting words in the world to hear are “Oh I love you too.”

A private family memorial gathering to scatter Bill’s ashes will take place this summer per his wishes.

So sorry, Cindy! You and Jim have had a rough couple months. We’ll continue to keep you in our prayers. I’m sure your mom will appreciate being with you under the circumstances.

God bless you and all the family.

Love you!

We never met your dear father, Cindy, but we can see you in his endearing smile. How blessed you are to have had a fine committed father who knew and loved the Lord. He set a good example for his whole family by his open participation in churches where ever your family lived. It is a mystery yet unclear how much our dear departed loved ones are aware of what we who are left behind may be thinking and doing, but I take comfort in the notion that they may be part of that great cloud of witnesses mentioned in Hebrews. Surely it is good to be thinking of them and loving them even though we can no longer see them. All blessings in Christ, Charles and Margaret
