Obituary
We lost our mother, our sister, our daughter, our beloved Christy on May 10, 2013. She leaves behind her beautiful daughter, Hannah Newman, of whom Christy was terribly proud, in addition to her mother Jan Kleiven (Roy), her partner Anthony, her siblings Matthew Newman, Kerry Lindal (Chris), Tracy Sundberg, Shelly Sundberg (Whit Alexander), and Erin Odwazny (John). She was preceded in death by her father Daniel Newman and brother Daniel “Twig” Newman Jr.
Christy was born in Seattle in 1970 and grew up on Capitol Hill, attending St. Joseph’s, Blanchet High School, and graduating from Mt. Vernon High School.
Christy was feisty. She was outgoing and gorgeous. She loved music passionately, dancing with abandon. She had a sharp and ready sense of humor, yet a soft and vulnerable side underneath. Christy’s tenderness was illustrated in her love of animals, with her own pets and for a black bear named Lily whose life progress captivated her. She was an avid and poetic writer, with a love of books reflected in her volunteer work at a local library.
